In 2011 I worked almost exclusively in in a larger scale (over 36" x 36") and increased the impact of layers of actual maps in my paintings. I consider these my record of where I've been and where I dream of going. Right now, I'm quite content with life in Colorado, so it's no coincidence that the maps focus on this region, whereas previously they were more international. -
paintings 2010
I started this series in 2009 after doing a simple collage of a map I had saved from my first international trip to New Zealand, where I worked for 4 months. That experience was pivotal in my life, and I found myself fascinated with the textural qualities of maps in general and how they interacted with the quality of paint and resin. -
